Even in spite of trauma and tragedy and tyranny alike, the capacity for joy exists. Reasons for gratitude persist. Much of the natural world is like this—life giving, life taking, cycles of destruction and creation, again and again. The opportunity for bliss is ever present, albeit often in the background. It's like Alan Watts said: Nirvana is right where you are, provided you don't object to it.
